Editorial policy
Select Music Culture aims to make music writing clear, considered and fair to the subject. We distinguish what an article describes from what it interprets, and correct the record when we find an error.
Accuracy and context
We check names, terminology and historical details against appropriate references before publication. When a point is disputed, uncertain or dependent on a particular musical context, we say so rather than presenting one reading as universal. Our explanations are editorial, not a substitute for specialist instruction.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for the usefulness and interest of readers. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or a particular conclusion. We do not accept payment in exchange for an undisclosed editorial endorsement.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and passage. We review correction requests and amend material where warranted, making a clear note when a change meaningfully affects the article. Questions of interpretation may have more than one reasonable answer.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner-supported material is clearly identified as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. Partner placements are labelled so readers can recognise their commercial context. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; we identify them where relevant and do not present them as documentary images.
Every listen can reveal another choice
We believe music becomes more rewarding when we have a few words for what we hear. Curiosity matters more than credentials.
